This is a rank flag ;" Maharajah" was a title who can be translated as "Governor " or "State Official ".
In the Sultanate of Sulu we can find out the "Maharah adinda" or second crown Prince; the" Maharajah laila" or district inspector; the "Maharajah pahalawan" or colonel and the "Maharajah bansawan" or major .

This flag is very interesting because have some different symbols on it.

The alligator or the lizard is a common symbol on some flags of the Sulu area.
This symbol remainds to the pre-islamic era.
In the Museum of UCLA , Berkeley, California, U.S.A. we can find out three other similar flags .
Two of them have a white stylized lizard on red field and yellow border; another one has the same stylized lizard on red and white border.
